How to make a
Halter
Right then. First
you'll need to get your victim *ahem* model.
I prefer to use unpainted resins or
Breyer "bodies" so you don't damage your model during the process.

Then you need to
get your supplies. Here you can see leather lacing, pliers, scissors, 2 mini
clamps, 3 jump rings, 1 buckle and 2 3 slot halter rings. Also need glue of your
choice.
You can use jump rings instead of the halter rings.

Start off by
putting the leather thru a jump ring/side slot on halter ring), glue and clamp
closed until dry.

Put against model and
measure where the leather needs to go. Use your nail at stop point and bend
leather. Cut a bit below that and put on other halter ring.

When I say bend
leather I mean like this.
It's just so you have a mark.

Then do the same
for under the muzzle

Then put on model
to recheck size.

Do same for side
checking size

Same for other
side also put buckle on leather

By this point you
should have the noseband and cheekpeices done.
Now glue the leather to the jump ring (offside) for the
headpiece leaving it long enough to be buckled up.

On other side
measure where you want the buckle to go, snip leather and glue to jump ring.
Fasten up.

Now recheck whole
thing fits.
Glue leather to bottom of off side jump ring. Then
measure around under throat to other ring, bend leather, cut and glue to bottom
of that jump ring.

Now lay model
down, bend leather at 1 end, put over noseband with jump ring and glue. Measure
to throatlatch, bend, snip and glue

Halter should look
like this

Put back on horse for
final fitting.
For lead rope attach a jump ring to a hook, glue leather
to jump ring. Make leather as long as you want, cut then make a loop ad glue but
leave a hole for dolls hand.

The final product!
